Affiliates, what is an affiliate. My search from the dictionary term it as: "to receive into a society as a member". In the internet world wide web, when you sign up or register to join a certain program, you become an affiliate with that program irrespective of whether you are selling or promoting their products. The merchant that accept affiliates into their program is than known to offer affiliate program. Most merchants who offer online digital products accept affiliates into their programs, and when you sign up with them, then you are an affiliate.

This is a very fast and simple explanation what an affiliate is. Another term commonly used now is "publisher". When you join affiliate networks like cj or LinkShare.com, you are refered to as a "Publisher".
